Science Focus
Branch Elementary School has a strong focus on teaching its students about the sciences. The learning begins in the classroom and is enhanced by experiments and demonstrations in our Science Laboratory. There are also special campus activities and field trips throughout the year.
The Science Advisory Committee (SAC) is composed of parents, grandparents, and teaching staff who have the mission to help the teachers provide outstanding science education opportunities. One of the main missions of the committee is to design experiments and demonstrations for our students in our Science Laboratory. We try to focus on one of the great scientists each semester, and provide experiments, demonstrations, and displays about their scientific accomplishments.
The teaching in our Science Laboratory is provided by volunteer staff from SAC, and the equipment and supplies are provided by funding from the PTO, private donations, and grants from local industry. We strongly encourage anyone with an interest in helping provide science education at Branch to join the Science Advisory Committee. Much of the work we do does not require scientific skills, but rather dedication to help organize and carry out the many tasks required for our science program.
